200 million year old dinosaur footprints found

Footprints discovered on a beach in Wales’ Glamorgan Valley may have been made by a dinosaur ancestor more than 200 million years ago. This was the conclusion of researchers at the Natural History Museum in London, who analyzed the tracks found in 2020.

According to specialists, the footprints are from the Triassic period. Marks left on the floor were scanned and recreated in three dimensions to facilitate investigation.

It is believed that the traces may have been left by a very ancient specimen of sauropods and dinosaurs with a huge body, a long neck and a small head. Other signs of the presence of these animals have already been found in the UK.

Analyzing the footprints can help scientists understand the habits, behavior and characteristics of dinosaurs, animals that have intrigued the human race for centuries. According to the researchers, the marks found are relatively rare around the world, which makes the British find even more special.
