A waitress was fired last weekend in Bentonville, Arkansas, days after receiving a million dollar tip. Reason: She rebelled against sharing value with her peers.
Ryan Brandt was surprised by a $4,400 (about 25,000 R$) tip on June 6, when 44 people in one meeting gave $100 each to help her pay off her student debt.
But the emotion soon gave way to frustration. Ryan heard from her manager that she should split the amount with the other employees on the team, keeping 20% of the amount.
The split could not have happened
The waitress refused to obey the order. Upon learning of the information, the donor responsible for the get-together asked the restaurant to hand over the full amount to the woman, who ended up throwing her out the next day.
Ryan said he was “devastated” by the resignation and emphasized that tipping off his colleagues had never occurred during the three-and-a-half years he had worked at the restaurant.
