2 min readHe gave reason at Saturday’s UFC main event in Las Vegas. After agreeing to replace the injured Neil Derius less than two weeks ago, American Bobby Green offered little resistance to Russia’s Islam Makhachev, who beat him in a “luxury exercise”. A technical knockout in 3:23 from the first round as promised, a 10th straight win for 4th in the lightweight classification, who should be the next contender for the belt after a fight between Bronx champion Charles and the American. The battle followed the script that was expected: Makhachev studied the movement of Greene for the first few minutes, then closed the distance and went down on one leg. The American tried to get out from under, but quickly faded, with just over two minutes left. The Russian proceeded to lower the logs on his head and Green quickly turned around, unable to defend himself cleverly. Then referee Herb Dean closed it.
Makhachev made it clear what he wanted for his next performance in the Octagon: fighting for the lightweight belt, currently controlled by Brazilian Charles de Bronx.
– I just want to fight for the title. Enough with that, I need a title fight. I’m tired of all this, I’m training hard here. Just tell me when and where I will go there. Benil is one of the best in the world. I’ll get the belt and wait for it there – Khabib Nurmagomedov’s training partner said.

Bobby Green regretted his short notice and asked for another chance to confront Makhachev in the future.
– I’m very disappointed, but that’s what happens when you have to fix everything at the last minute. The American said. I would do it again with a full boot camp.
