The USDA says the United States sells 2.1 million tons of corn 201/22 during the week
1 min readSao Paulo, Oct 10 (IANS) The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) said in a weekly report on Thursday that exporters from the United States sold 2.143 million tons of corn from the 2021/22 crop for the week ended March 3. The highest volume in the business year represents a significant increase, compared to the volume sold in the previous week and the average of the previous four weeks.
During the week, major buyers were unpublished places (800,600 tonnes), Japan (398,400 tonnes), Mexico (290,200 tonnes), Saudi Arabia (140,000 tonnes) and Colombia (129,600 tonnes). Salvador (22.5 thousand tons) and Costa Rica (2.9 thousand tons).
For the 2022/23 harvest, 22.9 thousand tons were sold to Mexico.
The result of the summation of the two crops came above the forecast of the consultants Dow Jones NewswireExpect quantities ranging from 750 thousand tons to 1.9 million tons per week.
The total exports made during this period were 1.763 million tonnes. Compared to the previous week, the volume represents a 14% increase compared to the average of the previous four weeks. China (555.1 thousand tons), Mexico (371.7 thousand tons), Colombia (258.4 thousand tons), Japan (205.1 thousand tons) and Saudi Arabia (140 thousand tons) are the major destinations.
