Bodies found in US military plane crash in Norway

Norwegian security announced Sunday that the bodies of four Marines who died in a plane crash during a NATO exercise in Norway have been recovered and flown to a nearby city.

“Four crew members were rescued from the crash site by a Norwegian 330 Squadron Sea King rescue helicopter. The boat will remain (in the north) until the bodies are transported to the United States,” the Armed Forces said in a statement.

Their identities have not been released.

The Marine Corps Aspray aircraft, along with four Americans, went missing from radar on Friday due to bad weather, local rescue services said.

Bad weather complicated the search and rescue mission, which was unable to carry it out on Saturday. According to the first investigation, the plane was “crashed” on the mountain.

The aircraft took part in a training exercise called “Gold Response” which involved 200 aircraft and about 50 ships.
