A 4-year-old boy was left with his seat belt strapped on a free-fall ride at the Sydney Royal Easter Show in Australia, narrowly escaping a serious accident.

Images shared online show Tristan Curtis sitting at the toy with the safety lock open, while the kids next door lock it.

The boy’s mother saw the scene outside and was afraid of the possibility of an accident. “the girl [operadora do brinquedo] Sky Burstany Curtis told the Daily Telegraph: “We stopped the ride but they didn’t leave the cabin, so one of the other parents had to put him off the machine.” My husband and I were not tall enough to reach it. They just didn’t pull the latch down, they didn’t check it.”

According to her, her son has autism, so it was “difficult” to know how he was feeling after the accident.

Another witness told the newspaper that the operator “had no idea” that the boy was not safe inside the game. “They pressed the emergency button, but apparently the operator couldn’t get the toy down, and someone had to go in there and make the baby jump,” said Eva Levi, who watched the scene. “The people who were at the scene had to shout for the game to be stopped.”

According to The Sun, event organizers have launched an investigation into the incident.

“The safety of customers at the fair is paramount and we have closed the Children’s Free Fall Tour after a lock issue was reported,” a park spokeswoman said. “The game’s safety systems have worked well to prevent any injuries and the equipment will not operate again until a full investigation has been completed and the ride approved by expert engineers.”
