RTX 2060 vs RTX 3050 vs RX 6600: Which would I choose?
7 min readWe put this “meiúca” of two thousand Brazilian reals to fight!
It is normal for people to be suspicious of some models, but few have intertwined more than one model GeForce RTX 2060, GeForce RTX 3050 and Radeon RX 6600. On the one hand, we already have a current-generation dispute, with the RTX 3050 coming to fight with the RX 6600 in the entry/middle market, but with the RTX 2060 still in the market (and even getting the 12GB version ) gave a good tangle in the dispute between the current GeForce, the current Radeon and the previous GeForce. what is the best?
Technical Specifications
Let’s compare all three, in pursuit of finding the best option. Starting with the technical specifications of the models that we will present in the dispute:

Among the specifications, the most relevant is the amount of VRAM. The RTX 2060 has 6GB, which is enough in Full HD and can pose challenges in Quad HD. In many cases, texture quality adjustments actually solve the problem, but the 8GB of the RTX 3050 and RX 6600 are certainly more welcome.
In ray tracing, we have the advantage of the RTX 3050. It brings the new generation of Nvidia architecture with tensor and RT cores. This makes it the most effective for technologies like DLSS and Ray Tracing, but even needs to be sparse with RT. Next comes the RTX 2060, which also achieves something even with ray tracing enabled, but also with several tweaks, while the Radeon RX 6600 does something, but it is already a card that has difficulties with dealing with ray tracing in some titles, even accurately 1080p. .
In technologies, the RTX 3050 and RTX 2060 both have RTX features, such as Studio with background cropping and noise correction, as well as NVENC for video encoding, which is great for recording gameplay or live streaming.
The RX 6600 will appear lower in tests: It tends to perform well in games that only involve drip. It is also based on RDNA 2, the same architecture as the next generation controllers, which could help this model in the long run.

With more applications taking advantage of the processing power of GPUs, we’ve updated our test suite with some of the hottest software on the market.
Adobe Premiere CC 2022
Adobe Premiere is a world reference when it comes to video editing software, and in its latest versions, it has also made use of GPUs to help speed up rendering. Here is the behavior of the comparison panels:

Width 13
The Professional Application Testing suite consists of a comprehensive battery of hardware-intensive scenarios offering diverse applications ranging from architecture, mining, and medicine. We ran two tests, one focused on performance in Maya and one in SolidWorks.
3DMark
And if we talk about the benchmarks, then we can not exclude one of the most famous tests in the world, especially for the performance of the video card, 3DMark. Our battery is made up of three tests, but two of them only show technologies that modern board models offer, Ray Tracing (Port Royal) and DLSS (DLSS Feature Test).
We ran the latest version of the app from UL Benchmark (which bought Futuremark), with all tests assuming the default profile configuration, without any changes. Here are the results:
Tests in games
Now let’s get to what really matters: performance tests on some of the major games on the market.
To help you understand the following graphics: Above 60 frames per second is ideal for monitors operating at this frequency. The closer we get to 30fps the fluidity gets worse, and below 30 the game starts to become ‘unplayable’
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
The open world game has wide and standard scenarios with a good amount of characters and structures, making it a challenge for both the processor and the video card. The game uses the Ubisoft Anvil Engine, an evolution of AnvilNext 2.0 that has been in the series since Assassi’s Creed Unity. The version used in Valhalla on PC is based on DirectX 12 API.
Cyberpunk 2077 movie
CD Proejct RED’s sales success but critical disaster highlights the widespread use of technologies as diverse as AMD’s FidelityFX and both DLSS and Nvidia RTX hardware-accelerated ray tracing. We ran the test on busy Night City streets, which made it difficult for both the processor and graphics card to work, and we put extra effort on the graphics card when optical ray tracing was enabled.
Forza Horizon 4
Playground Games uses its own graphics engine, and as an exclusive to Microsoft systems, it has been fully developed for DirectX 12. This game is distinguished by its excellent graphics and the ability to deliver a good level of performance on multiple devices, including more limited ones.
Grand Theft Auto V
The game is indeed a classic and years later it still stands as one of the most played. Based on DirectX 11, it also brings a feel of old graphics engines based on the still popular Microsoft API. It’s a very hard test on the processor, and faster memories have very noticeable effects. For modern video cards, it is no longer a big challenge.
rainbow six sig
The most notable feature of Ubisoft’s game is the use of a low-level Vulkan API in its latest app. Esport requires high frame rates to run satisfactorily, and is often one of the most efficient games at achieving this performance across multiple components.
Red Dead Redemption 2
RockStar with beautiful graphics is a good reference for measuring the behavior of video cards. Our test takes into account the game running on the Vulkan API, which works very well on both AMD and NVIDIA cards.
Resident Evil Village
Capcom’s game uses the excellent RE Engine, a graphics engine that delivers interesting results from high-end PCs to more limited platforms like the Nintendo Switch. Resident Evil 8 highlights complex and detailed scenarios, with Ray Tracing used to illuminate scenarios and with resources like FidelityFX. In the tests, we tour Dmitrescu Castle, one of the heaviest and most detailed locations in the game.
Tom Clancy’s The Division 2
The Division 2 uses its own graphics engine developed by Ubisoft Massive, handling complex scenarios and large amounts of particles on the screen.
WatchDogs: Legion
The game powered by Nvidia is based on the Disrupt graphics engine and has extensive use of RTX technologies, such as DLSS, and also has Ray Tracing, which is accelerated by both GeForce RTX and Radeon RDNA 2 hardware. The light makes playing the game quite a challenge.

conclusion
It is not difficult to understand how difficult it is to choose between these three models. They intertwine in terms of performance and costs.. Especially in the duel between the GeForce options and the Radeon option, depending on the game and technology used, who advances in graphics performance varies greatly. Even in the pro tests part, we had an intriguing alternation, with Radeons “patrolling” GeForce in testing with Specviewperf, and reversing the situation with Adobe Premiere testing.
The three models have similar costs and performance levels
In some games, the Radeon RX 6600 jumps forwardAnd, when it’s not in the lead, it’s usually right behind the RTX 2060, less than 10%. In raw performance, she was the winner in the feud, although in some games we see this difference more clearly. In other countries, it is in the same club as 2060.
Here’s the moment you weigh the GeForce RTX 2060 kit in your favour. With many games achieving a difference of 10% or less, and not getting bad performance in tests that fall behind them, Nvidia’s card might make more sense by bringing in features like DLSS and RTX, as well as NVENC for recording and playing streaming.
What about the RTX 3050? Our tests showed a significant difference between it and the RTX 2060, between 10 and 15%. This means that the RTX 3050 only makes sense if it appears to be at least 10-15% cheaper. Having more VRAM is welcome, but it’s not a big enough difference to justify a very similar price to the RTX 2060. And in competition with the RX 6600, it lags the Radeon in gaming more than the red side of the force. Outside.
The Radeon RX 6600 has the highest performance in some games, the RTX has the best balance of features and performance, and the RTX 3050 is only available if its price is lower.
Here, too, it is a good idea to provide an additional form of dispute. The RTX 2060 also has a 12GB version, which in addition to more VRAM, has a configuration difference with more CUDA cores.. Unfortunately we don’t have a sample to test, so our group and database are missing your performance results, but keep an eye out for this difference when looking for models.
