Abigail Bhujenske wins Ohio’s first 1 million jackpot in the state’s Vox-A-Millions lottery. A recent college graduate, 22-year-old Bujenske lives in the Cincinnati area, small and quiet in the village of Silverton 11 miles northeast of the city. He is a G.E. Works for aviation and recently moved to the area for his work. He is a student at Ohio State University and a master’s degree in aerospace engineering, graduating from Michigan State University in August last year. Speaking to the press on Thursday for the first time, Bugenske said he has no plans to quit his current job – a job he wants – and plans to donate some of his successes to charity. “I was completely surprised when I got the call. I still could not believe it. It was a crazy night,” the 22-year-old said. On Wednesday evening, shortly before the state’s 7:29 p.m., Bugenske received a personal call from the government to Mike Divine. “It’s a big deal to call someone and say they won a million dollars.” He was driving from Cincinnati to his parents’ house in the Cleveland area and had forgotten that the drawing was going on at the moment. “I cried, my parents thought something was wrong,” he said. They told me to calm down and make sure it wasn’t before I really started to leave. “The call was, in fact, real. Bugenske said he began to explode with notes of his phone friends and social media friend requests. The 22-year-old said he received the COVID-19 vaccine before the birth of the Vox-A-Million program, but said he did not know what it would be like to win the $ 1 million. “I was first vaccinated to protect friends, family and everyone I came in contact with,” he said, adding that the Vox-A-Million win was just a bonus. More than 2.7 million adults signed up for the $ 1 million prize and more than 104,000 children between the ages of 12 and 17 entered the map for college scholarships, including education, room and board and books. Joseph Costello, 14, of Englewood, won the first lottery for a full ride scholarship. A further $ 1 million and college scholarship winners will be announced each Wednesday for the next four weeks. Republican Divine announced the plan on May 12 to increase lagging vaccine rates.
