An explosion destroys a building in the English Channel; 10 are missing

On Saturday (10), the head of the government of this British island located in the English Channel said that three people were killed and ten others were missing after an explosion in a building in the capital, Jersey.

Christina Moore announced this balance sheet tonight, updating the deceased ex. In addition, two people were hospitalized and thirty were evacuated from the area.

And the local police chief, Robin Smith, explained that a “huge explosion” occurred at around four o’clock in the morning at a residential property in Saint Helier, south of this island located off the French coast of Normandy.

Raised by a “rather desolate scene,” Smith added that because of the explosion, which was presumably caused by a gas leak, “the three-story building completely collapsed.”

He also noted that the death toll could rise due to people still missing who the emergency services will continue to search for throughout the night.

He explained that before the explosion, the residents of the building called the fire department, complaining about the smell of gas.

“Given the destruction of the building, it is difficult to assess the exact number of people missing,” admitted Jersey Premier Christina Moore, adding that it could take “several days” to clean up the site.
