“Russia will never win Ukraine,” Biden says in Poland speech

US President Joe Biden spoke on Tuesday (21) to commemorate the one-year anniversary of the war in Ukraine, which takes place on Friday. During the speech, the US President said that Russia will never win Ukraine.

“Russia will never win in Ukraine, never,” he said.

The US President confirmed his support for the Ukrainians. According to him, “Ukraine is still strong. Kiev is still free.”

He commented, “Putin thought NATO would fall apart, but NATO is more united than ever.”

During the government of former US President Donald Trump, NATO’s structures were very fragile, including the relationship between some member states.

“People continue to fight for their democracies,” Biden said when commenting on the situation in Moldova, Ukraine’s neighbour. “They want to live in freedom.”

The President of the United States is in Warsaw, Poland. Hundreds of people attended the speech personally.

Poland is today home to about 2.5 million Ukrainians who left their country to seek safety during the war. According to Reuters, the majority are women and children.
