A detailed comparison shows a clear victory of DLSS 2 over FSR 2 in multiple games
2 min readJust last Saturday (8) the official Hardware Unboxed channel shared a more than half hour long video showing Nvidia DLSS 2 and AMD FSR 2, the two main upgrade technologies in today’s PCs, Side by side across a total of 26 games to compare the image quality of each. The result is quite obvious, DLSS generally has great advantages.
After a few years since Nvidia launched this trend of innovative technology with Deep Learning Super Sampling in PC, AMD has also created its own variant and it has been developed and applied in many games together. Therefore, today it is possible to make comparisons within this range and in great detail.
In the video, we can first see 9 games placed side by side and comment on them in great detail about the comparison between the two technologies. But the channel analyzes a total of 26 different games and, at the end of the video, presents tables summarizing the results obtained.

Up to 40% more GPU resources
To carry out this analysis with a more systematic approach for better comparison and visualization, 5 different categories have been created differ Between a big advantage of DLSS, going through an absolute bond between the two technologies and ending up with a big advantage of FSR. These categories are named as follows: DLSS++, DLSS++, DLSS+, Tie, FSR+, FSR++, and FSR+++. A color scheme has also been used in the table which also helps in intuitive visualization.

As we can see in the summary table above, we basically have different shades of green interspersed with white, suggesting a tie, at first glance already. Even looking carefully, we noticed FSR 2 had no advantage, however small, in any of the scenarios analyzed by Hardware Unboxed. Thus, the most favorable situations for AMD technology are when it achieves parity with DLSS.
In addition, if we look a little closer, it is also possible to notice that the tables are dark green towards the right, when there is an increase in the smallest initial resolution, the maximum analysis here is the gameplay at 1440p with the upgrade set to performance mode.

Both this pattern and patterns from the other schemes shown indicate that DLSS not only has a general advantage, But also its picture quality over FSR stands out most at lower input resolutions. DLSS seems to handle the initial insertion of fewer pixels better.
