The actor and former governor of California tweeted a video Tuesday of him and his assistant using compacted concrete to repair a road in the Brentwood area.
“Today, after the entire neighborhood has been upset by this giant crater that has been destroying cars and bikes for weeks, I went out with my crew and fixed it,” he wrote on Twitter. “I always say, let’s not complain, let’s do something about it. There it is.”
A neighbor rolled out her car window and yelled thanks to her action star.
“You’re welcome,” Schwarzenegger said, wearing work boots, a leather jacket, and sunglasses reminiscent of his role in “The Terminator.”
“You have to do this yourself. It’s crazy. I’ve waited three weeks for this hole to close,” he said.
Schwarzenegger spokesman Daniel Kitchell said residents of Brentwood have submitted repeated requests for repairs since winter storms opened up potholes and cracks in local roads.
Last week, Mayor Karen Bass announced a plan to deal with what she called the “unprecedented number of damaged streets” across the city.
As of December 30, Los Angeles had received 19,692 service requests for repairs, and as of April 6, crews had filled at least 17,549 holes, officials said.
The Department of Public Works did not immediately respond to an email asking if the pothole filled by Schwarzenegger was scheduled to be repaired.
