Globo causes a revolution by cutting kisses between women from ‘Vai na Fé’ – 05/10/2023
2 min readAfter overcoming this taboo several times in series such as “Amor à Vida” and “Malhação”, Globo seems to have backtracked on its decision to show sexual kisses in its series. At least that’s what it looked like after the “Vai na Fé” chapter aired on Wednesday (10).
A scene that had already been announced in plot synopses and on the channel’s portal, GShow, ended up being cut. The sequence co-stars Helena (Priscilla Stegenmann) and Clara (Rejian Alves), whose story is very kindly told by Roseanne Svartman. The characters even exchanged a flick to end a bad joke made by two boys.
And the channel’s website announced this Wednesday, that Clara and Helena will kiss, “real after click.” But what was seen was a puncture scene. While they were talking, one was lying down, and the other seemed to be getting closer to the kiss that was being censored. Clara, played by Regiane Alves, even got up with her hand over her mouth to explain why she was hesitating, but the truth is, the sequence was completely pointless and the cut was pretty obvious.
On Twitter, Regiane Alves tried on a hot towel, seeing the revolution that censorship has sparked in fans of the series. “Slow and steady…step by step building a future in which all forms of love can be accepted and celebrated,” he wrote.
But the truth is that in the middle of 2023, you don’t have to go slow and always with issues involving equal rights. The globe was wrong. And that was wrong. On social networks, there was rebellion and the topic was among the most commented on on Twitter worldwide.
The column contacted Globo, but did not receive a response, given the time this note was posted. Once it receives a placement, this text will be updated.
