The former Santa Monica says Sony isn’t rushing studios on their deadlines
1 min readIn the last post on streaming gamesSony isn’t rushing the studios, said Rafa Grassetti, the former God of War and Santa Monica art director and now in charge of AAA Netflix. The developers themselves are bound by deadlines and are free to request more time to produce titles.
According to Grassetti, this depends a lot on the game’s production stage. For example, in God of War Ragnarok, Several contents must be countedbut not because of pressure from PlayStation, and yes, to meet predetermined deadlines for the game’s release.
Thus, some developers end up, willingly, staying a few extra hours to make sure that their ideas for the game arrive at the quality intended in the final product and they don’t run the risk of, if not finished, being left out. Check out the interview excerpt:
As Grassetti pointed out, Sony has flexibility in scheduling projects with PlayStation Studios. It ends up getting to them on a personal level, not starting with the leaders of each developer.
