Maduro blamed Trump for threatening Venezuelan oil

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has condemned former US President Donald Trump’s remarks about his intention to “take” Venezuela’s oil. Such statements are a crime against humanity, Maduro said.

In an event that followed a meeting between Iranian and Venezuelan representatives, Maduro highlighted that Trump had admitted a crime against humanity by revealing that his government’s aim through aggression and economic sanctions against Venezuela was to provoke the collapse of Venezuelan society and allow the United States. Latin American country’s oil should be captured.

At the Republican convention, Trump said if re-elected in 2020, he would have “taken over Venezuela” and “taken all the oil.” In addition, the former president attacked Maduro and criticized the quality of oil extracted by Venezuela’s state-owned PDVSA.

Maduro highlighted Trump’s affidavit, saying, “A good lawyer will say, ‘One party does not have to prove what the other agrees.'” The Venezuelan president also recalled that during Trump’s administration, all Venezuelan government assets in the United States were frozen and transactions with the country were banned.

Finally, Trump also criticized the Joe Biden administration, saying that the United States is currently buying oil from Venezuela, thereby enriching a dictator.
