Juri Alberto crosses the pitch on his knees after ending the greatest drought with a goal for Corinthians
1 min readWith Corinthians’ 2-0 victory over Santos on Wednesday, Juri Alberto made special promise. The striker, who had gone through a ten-game spell without scoring, crossed his knees on the lawn of Villa Belmero.
The goal scored by Juri Alberto was responsible for opening the scoring in Corinthians’ victory. It happened in the 18th minute, when Roger Guedes made a pass on the right end to Ruan Oliveira. Then he found the striker, who pushed the ball into the back of the net.
This mark represents the biggest drought ever recorded by Juri Alberto for Corinthians. The player has not scored since the 1-1 draw against Fortaleza, on May 8, at the New Quimeca Arena, during the fourth round of the Brazilian League.
Despite his recent fast, Juri Alberto is Timão’s second-highest scorer this year, with six goals so far – two goals scored in the Brazilian and four in the Paulista. Top scorer for Corinthians is Roger Guedes, with an impressive 18 goals.
Juri Alberto will have another chance to score on Saturday 24 June, when Corinthians take on Atlético Paranaense at Arena da Baixada in Curitiba. The confrontation is valid for round 12 of Brazil.
