Military police Sebastian Avellino Vargas was taken to the stadium police station to testify, as well as some Corinthians fans, as witnesses.
The Peruvian coach was accompanied by other professionals from Universitario. While they were giving evidence, Corinthian security guards took the press away.
In a press conference after the match, Universitario coach Jorge Fossati said:
– I didn’t see. I’ve known him and he’s worked with me for 13 years, since 2010, he’s a very decent guy. According to what he told me, his gestures were misinterpreted. They were spitting on him and swearing at him, football stuff unfortunately. It seems fans can do whatever they want. If we respond, it is wrong. And so. But Corinthians and Universitario fans are also at fault if they don’t behave properly to be in the game.
“Here’s the one thing I can guarantee you: It’s decent as hell. We’ll see. They said it has cameras. That’s what I say at playtime: As long as there’s a camera, arguing is over. If he makes a mistake, he’ll unfortunately have to pay.” I hope there is nothing. And if you have done nothing wrong, you will be with us in a little while.
