AMD Expands RDNA 3 Lineup with RX 7800 XT and RX 7700 XT Graphics Cards

AMD has recently announced the official launch of its highly anticipated RX 7800 XT and RX 7700 XT graphics cards, completing its RDNA 3 lineup. These cards are specifically designed for gamers who prioritize stunning visuals and exceptional performance on 1440p displays.

Both the RX 7800 XT and RX 7700 XT are capable of running games at maximum settings, including ray tracing, while maintaining above 60fps. This is made possible by their support for AMD’s latest frame generation technologies, such as FSR 3 and Fluid Motion Frames.

One of the key differences between the two cards lies in their GPU configurations. The RX 7800 XT features a fully-enabled 60CU version of the Navi 32 GPU, while the RX 7700 XT utilizes a cut-down 54CU design. However, both cards have comparable TDP figures, with the RX 7700 XT clocked higher to compensate for its lower CU complement.

According to performance data provided by AMD, the RX 7800 XT is expected to rival the RTX 4070, while the RX 7700 XT outperforms the RTX 4060 Ti. These cards have demonstrated their ability to achieve over 60fps at maximum settings in recent AAA releases like The Last of Us Part 1 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

The RX 7800 XT is available in an AMD reference design as well as third-party designs from partners, providing consumers with a range of options to choose from. On the other hand, the RX 7700 XT is exclusively available in third-party designs.

Notably, both graphics cards boast more VRAM than their competitors. The RX 7700 XT offers 12GB, while the RX 7800 XT provides an impressive 16GB. This additional VRAM allows for smoother gameplay and enhances the overall gaming experience.

The RX 7800 XT and RX 7700 XT feature a chiplet (‘MCM’) design and incorporate a 5nm graphics compute die along with a 6nm memory cache die. This advanced architecture contributes to improved power efficiency and performance.

Gamers can look forward to the release of these powerful GPUs on September 6th. As an added bonus, each purchase of the RX 7800 XT and RX 7700 XT will include a copy of Starfield’s Premium Edition, a highly anticipated upcoming game.

While initial performance data appears promising, further testing will be needed to fully assess the capabilities and overall user experience of these graphics cards. Nonetheless, the RX 7800 XT and RX 7700 XT are undoubtedly poised to deliver exceptional gaming performance and visuals to enthusiasts worldwide.
