Video: Shark attacks teen surfer in Florida
2 min readA photographer managed to record the exact moment when a shark attacked a 16-year-old surfer on a beach in New Smyrna, Florida, United States.
Young Doyle Nielsen was paddling in choppy water when the attack occurred. A shark, which must have been about 6 feet long, was caught biting the teen’s arm while trying to catch a wave.
The victim was hit by the animal, but managed to get back on his board and swim to shore. At first, the young man thought another surfer had hit him, but the suspicion was dismissed when other people asked him to get out of the water. “I felt like someone on my surfboard came at full speed in my face and hit me really hard,” Doyle said in an interview with ABC News.
“I was lucky, I only got nine points,” Nielsen said. The shark is not responsible, said Sam Scribner, the author of the photos. He concluded his speech by saying, “We are in their lands.”
