The national campaign for multiple immunization begins on Friday, which will provide 18 types of vaccines that protect children and adolescents from diseases such as polio, measles, chickenpox and mumps.

The campaign was officially launched yesterday (30) by the Ministry of Health and will continue until October 29. The target audience is children and adolescents up to 15 years of age.

Although the Unified Health System (SUS) offers immunization against all these diseases, the Minister of Health Surveillance, Arnaldo Medeiros, has warned of a decrease in vaccination coverage in recent years.

Brazil, which has recorded vaccination rates above 90% for decades, has seen that level decline in recent years, dropping to around 60% of vaccination coverage, alarming health authorities. Diseases that were considered eradicated in the country, such as measles, for example, re-registered cases, which denied Brazil the status of a measles-free country by the World Health Organization (WHO).

The poor coverage, according to the authorities of the Ministry of Health, is to some extent due to the dissemination of false news (false news) and the actions of anti-vaccination groups.

Vaccines that will be available at stations during the campaign include: BCG, Hepatitis A and B, Pentagram (DTP/Hib/Hep B), Symbiosis Pneumonia 10, VIP (inactivated polio vaccine), and VRH (human rotavirus vaccine) , meningococcal C (conjugate), VOP (oral polio vaccine), yellow fever, triple viral (measles, rubella, mumps), tetralogy (measles, rubella, mumps, chickenpox), DTP (trivalent bacteria), chicken pox water and tetravalent HPV).
