Corinthians did not enter the field on Wednesday, but they have good news in Brazil. Fluminense, one of the opponents in the search for a place in the Libertadores da America, lost to Santos and Follows behind Timon in the leaderboard.
Thus, Sylvinho’s team remains in seventh place in the Brazilian championship, with 41 points. Rio’s team would reach 42 points and overtake Timao if they win Thursday’s game, but lost and stood at 39.
Now, Corinthians see no direct opponents at the Estadio Libertadores with fewer matches. Red Bull Bragantino, Internacional and Fluminense have the same 28 matches as Timao. Flamengo, fourth, has 46 points and is three games short of Parque Sao Jorge.
Corinthians return to the field next Monday. In a game that is a 100% audience launch at the Neo Química Arena, the Sylvinho Chapecoense team faces the championship lantern, and the ball rolls at 9:30 p.m. in Itaquera.
