A 13-year-old boy dies of severe dengue in Fiera de Santana
2 min readThe Municipal Health Secretariat (SMS) confirmed another death caused by severe dengue. This is a 13-year-old adolescent, whose case was confirmed after analysis of samples sent by epidemiological surveillance to the Central Public Health Laboratory in Bahia (Lacen). The information was released on Saturday (8) by the city council.
This is the fourth death from severe dengue this year – two were recorded in the previous month. The endemic factor teams intensified the eradication of Aedes aegypti mosquito breeding sites in the area where these people lived, in order to enhance the protection of family members.
From January until the beginning of last Wednesday (6), epidemiological surveillance confirmed 734 cases of dengue. Of the total, 8 were classified as severe and 111 with warning signs.
When are you looking for a sanitary unit?
People who have a fever and at least two other symptoms consistent with dengue, such as headache, body or joint aches, are considered suspects of the disease. The recommendation for epidemiological surveillance (VIEP) is that when signs are noted, the resident seeks the nearest health unit to receive guidance.
In severe cases in which the disease worsens, with severe and persistent abdominal pain, persistent vomiting, decreased pressure, fainting sensation, enlarged liver and bleeding from mucous membranes such as the mouth, eyes and genitals, the patient should go to emergency care units (UPAs) or municipal clinics overall.
