A Japanese military helicopter disappears on an island near Taiwan world
1 min readOn Thursday (6), Japan said that it had lost radio and satellite contact with a military helicopter that was passing in the area of Miyakojima Island, near Taiwan.
The government did not say how many people were on the plane. But the NHK news agency claimed that the helicopter was carrying 10 people.
Some local media reported that a senior commander of the Earth Self-Defense Force was among them.
Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said in remarks reported by NHK that the government’s priority is to rescue the people on board.
According to the Japanese “Kyoto News” news website, according to a Japanese Coast Guard official, a patrol boat found fuel and floating debris in the waters of the area. It is believed to be from the fuselage.
The government has not yet established the possible causes of the accident.
