A journalist reveals the salary of a goalkeeper who is being punished by Grêmio

The exclusion of goalkeeper Adriel from Grêmio’s starting line-up for the match against Cruzeiro, in the second round of the Brazilian Championship, was one of the most commented-on topics of the weekend in the press in Rio Grande do Sul. Substitute Gabriel Grando joined the team at the last minute.

Coach Renato Gaucho justified the decision due to the supposed influence of businessmen on the athlete’s career. On the other hand, the tricolor board were unhappy with an interview the 22-year-old had given without the permission of the club’s consultant.

With 13 appearances for Grêmio, Adriel receives a salary of nearly R$50,000, according to journalist Eduardo Gabardo, of the GZH portal. He has a contract with the club until December 2024. The highest salary in the team is Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez – R$ 1.9 million, according to the Goal website.

In an interview after the defeat against Cruzeiro, 1 to 0, last Saturday (22nd), in Independencia, Renato Gaucho sent a message to Adriel and the business. In the opinion of the coach, the goalkeeper needs to listen more to the one who wants his best.

“I’ll send a direct message: If the businessmen – not all of them – circulated within the club and helped define some things, it’s over. Today the club is to blame. Adriel didn’t play today… That’s a question he has to ask. I’ve spoken. He’s been to him four or five times already, and he’s been warned about several things, and he needs to listen to the people who want the best of them. And the ones who want the best of them are the people inside the club.”

Renato also bankrolled Gabriel Grando’s survival in Gremio’s next duel in Brazil, against Cuiaba, at 6:30 pm on Sunday, April 30, in the Plaza Pantanal. The goalkeeper made at least four hard saves against Cruzeiro and avoided a resilient score against Horto.
