A man who lives in the street kills the old woman who welcomed him and sets her body on fire – News
3 min readThe case of a brutal murder shocked the residents of the small town of Gorleston in the English county of Norfolk. The case is still under trial and details of what happened are being revealed.
Patricia Holland, 83, was a lady known by the locals for being a charitable person, but no one expected that this feature would bring her so many problems.
Patricia lived alone in a home and, in March 2020, decided to take in Alan Scott, a 42-year-old man who was homeless.
What was supposed to be a temporary affair lasted longer than expected and the two shared a roof for over a year. The relationship was not good and Patricia repeatedly asked Alan to move out of her house. According to the prosecutor in the case, Alan drank and became aggressive.
Alan was determined not to move and thought of a plan to keep the house. According to the investigations, he knew that if she died, he would have to move, but if Patricia disappeared, he could stay longer.
In the early hours of July 24-25, 2021, Allan violently attacked Patricia and then burned her body in a backyard fire to attempt to conceal the body and destroy evidence of the crime.
Investigations indicate that not much remains of the victim’s body after the fire, and the remains are still buried.
“When the police found his burnt and charred body, there was so little left that the cause of his death could not have been discovered,” said the public prosecutor.
Suspicion arose that Scott might have a personality disorder or that he needed to see a psychiatrist, but he was assessed fit to stand trial.
A verdict in the case is due in the coming weeks. The trial is expected to last up to three weeks.
