BOISE, USA – A memorial in honor of Anne Frank, the young Jewish woman who was murdered in the Holocaust and best known for her memoirs, was sprinkled with anti-Semitic messages and a Nazi swastika on Saturday in Boise, Idaho. Named after the Anne Frank Human Rights Memorial, it is the only memorial to a young woman in the United States.

City police said they are investigating the case. “We recognize the importance of this being the last Sabbath of Hanukkah and seek to warn the Jewish leaders of our community that we will not tolerate such hateful and disgusting behavior in our city,” the Boise police profile wrote on social media.

The monument included a bronze statue of Anne Frank depicting the young woman with her diary at the window. This is not the first time that the memorial has been vandalized. Last year, swastika stickers were affixed to the Anne Frank statue. Early in 2017, further episodes of Nazi graffiti resulted in $20,000 being spent to restore the memorial.
