A new comedy festival will move to the Theatre of Sunflowers in Cowansville this summer. Every weekend in the month of August, four comedians will come together on stage to present an unprecedented show.
“I decided to try it. The comedy shows are always very popular, and we wanted to offer a unique show to viewers this summer “, lets them know the owner of the place, Robert Goyette, who is also president of Productions Musi-Theatre.
For this first edition, Dominick Léonard, Martin Rozon, Michel Mpambara and Benoit Paquette will share the stage, sometimes with unreleased material, sometimes with extracts from their shows respective. “They will each be between 20 and 30 minutes. Maybe there will also be interactions between them, ” said Mr. Goyette, noting that each has a very particular style.
Dominick Leonard came on stage to a hundred occasions, including galas Grand rire or Just for laughs. He is preparing his first one-man show.
Martin Rozon mary the humor and the magic and has already assured the first parts of Louis-José Houde, Mario Jean and Stéphane Rousseau, among others.
After several years of absence, Michel Mpambara will test certainly some numbers of the big show’s return that he prepares tirelessly, Mpambara in the embarrassment of the choice.
Benoit Paquette, for his part, you will certainly give the impression that the colony of the Union of artists at large will be on stage with his impersonations of André Sauvé, Jean-François Mercier, Pierre Lapointe and Les Trois Accords, to name a few.
A formula malleable
It was this that gave the idea to Robert Goyette to set up its new comedy Festival. In 2016, after a year hiatus during the summer season due to health issues, the owner of the Théâtre des Tournesols had invited the comedian-impersonator to occur throughout the month of August in Cowansville. “The people had really liked it,” he recalls.
It has, therefore, decided to bring back the humour that was in a formula a bit different, which may be amended each year, let he know.
The Festival of the humor of Cowansville, will be presented Friday and Saturday evenings, from 2 to 24 August. Tickets are on sale now at www.theatredestournesols.com. Packages dinner + show are available.
