A poorly designed toboggan has been taken down in the US after a video of people being thrown into the air as they landed went viral on social media. The incident took place in the park Belle Isle Park, in Detroit. The toy is called Belle Isle’s Giant Slide.
After the controversy, the city government decided to close the park for a few days so that the toy could be renovated. To solve the problem of a dangerous descent, the park management decided to sand the surface of the toboggan, and to slow down the descent, they added water during the descent.
On that day a The video was posted on the park’s social media, administrators explained the proper use of the toy. An instructor in the video explains that it is important to keep the torso at a sharp angle with the legs.
After the repairs, the park was reopened to the public.
