5G auction

Anatel ran the auction for the 5G bands franchise in November of this year. On that day, the agency announced batches divided into national and regional, in four frequency bands: 700MHz; 2.3 GHz, 3.5 GHz and 26 GHz.

To participate, the companies had to meet all the requirements set out in the notice.

On December 7, the federal government and ten companies that won the auction signed radio frequency contracts to use the technology in Brazil. The Minister of Communications, Fabio Faria, said so Investments worth 47 billion Brazilian riyals, where 42 billion reais was transferred to the sector and 5 billion reais to the Ministry of Economy.

The minister also believes that by July 2022, the capitals of the country’s 27 federal units will already have a 5G offer.
