Apple launches a program that allows you to fix iPhone at home
2 min readApple surprised users on Tuesday (20) by announcing the expansion of its repair program for iPhones and MacBooks.
From now on, users who own any iPhone 14 model and some versions of MacBooks Air and Pro, equipped with the M2 chip, will be able to carry out repairs at home, without the need for specialized technical assistance.
How does the self-repair program work?
One of the biggest facilities announced by the Apple brand is that it will provide customers with the possibility to purchase the items needed for the repair, including the original components and the appropriate tools. The service also includes a program to validate the authenticity of new parts purchased.
In addition, Apple provides tutorials to guide the user throughout the process, ensuring that it is done correctly. Although the task may seem daunting, the technicians responsible for creating the software ensure that these repairs can be fully performed, even if you are a layman.
Types of repairs that can be made
The self-repair program covers some types of simple repairs, such as changing the screen, cameras, battery, and even the MacBook’s Touch ID. The goal is to empower users, allowing them to save time and money on self-repair. In addition, the initiative reflects a growing market trend aimed at extending the useful life of electronics.
Program coverage
The only negative point in the news is that the self-repair program is not yet available in Brazil. To date, it can be rented by customers in the United States, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom. On the other hand, Apple plans to expand the project and take it to other parts of the world.
In addition to the aforementioned models, the initiative will also include previous versions of the brand’s mobile phones, such as the iPhone 12 and 13, and Macs with the M1 chip. As of now, there are no expectations that the program will cover other Apple models and devices, as well as the following countries that will receive it.
