Army vs Navy game result: The Black Knights defeated the Marines in the fog to claim their fourth victory in the last five meetings

West Point Army defeated the Navy 15-0 on Saturday in the 121st Army and Navy game, achieving its fourth victory in the last five confrontations between the two teams. It was a 3-0 match after the first three quarters, but the Army broke through with a relegation and safety in the final quarter to put him away.

Army midfielder Tyhier Tyler was the star in the attack for the Black Knights as he lunted 96 yards and landed in 26 attempts. He also completed his only passing attempt in the game, as it was captured 28 yards on a wheel road in the second quarter that marked the Army’s first field goal. It was a game dominated by the defenses as the Army finished the day with 162 yards offensive while keeping the Navy at 117.

The most important moment of the match came in the third quarter. The Navy received the kickoff kick in the second half, and after moving the ball into midfield, Xavier Arlene’s quarterback kicked off for a 52-yard gain to put the Navy in the first and goal within the 5-yard line. After minimal matches in the first and second down, the Navy was prepared with a third and one goal in one. And that’s when the army defense stuffed the men of the navy on the goal line twice to force a landing turn. It was the Navy’s best chance to find the end zone in the game, and had it scored, the result would have been much different.

The two teams would spend the rest of the quarter exchanging kicks before the Navy’s spin deep into its territory constituted the Army’s first landing to make it 10-0. The Navy dug itself further into a ditch when it ran in the opposite direction which it ended up as safety to make it 12-0.

The Xavier Arline led the Midshipmen attack, sprinting 109 yards on 17 carriages, and his performance was in line with Tyler’s in that inexperience in the QB position of both teams showed in the final score. Arline was a tempting prospect, as both the Army and Air Force were interested in him, but he was still young and learning about crime. Tyler is one of four different players to play QB with the Black Knights this year, and he’s still learning to attack as well.

When you have two fouls with limited play manuals against defenses that spend all year facing options fouls, well, a slow, low-score loss is what you get.

However, clinic was absolute in the integrity gap by both defenders.

The victory raises the level of the Army to 7-2 per season and establishes the Commander in Chief’s Cup winner against the Air Force next week. The marine loss decreases to 3-7. It is only the third time the Navy has ended the season with seven losses or more during Coach Ken Nyumatalulu’s tenure.

The Army won four of the last five against the Navy after losing 14 in a row in the series from 2002 to 15. The total of 15 points scored on Saturday was the lowest in a match between Knights and Midshipmen since a 3-3 draw in 1981.
