1 min readEight neighborhoods are at high risk of being infected by the Aedes aegypti mosquito, according to a survey released Tuesday afternoon (23) by Sesau (Municipal Health Department). According to the document, 38 neighborhoods remain on alert.
The most important regions are those served by USF Iracy Coelho, UBS Coophavilla, UBS 26 de Agosto, UBSF Vida Nova, UBS Aero Rancho, UBS Silvia Regina, UBSF Botafogo, and UBS Dona Neta. The eight units had an IPP (Index of Building Injury) above 5%.
The study, conducted by CCEV (Coordination for Control of Endemic Diseases in Vectors), analyzed the situation in the capital between May 8 and 16. According to the file supervisor, Veruska Lahdo, the indexes light a warning about the importance of awareness and increased population participation, given that 80% of outbreaks are indoors.
“Most mosquito infestations inside our homes are different from what a lot of people think. In that potted plant in the backyard, in the clogged gutter and in the useless material that gets thrown out in the backyard,” he explained.
The greatest number of outbreaks has been found in small water deposits, such as bottles, potted plants, and plastic packaging, among others.
From January 1 to May 16, Campo Grande recorded 10,314 notifications and two dengue deaths. In the same period, one case of Zika and six of Chikungunya were confirmed.
