Axie Infinity Ronin Suffers Biggest Hack in Crypto History: $625 Million

The blockchain ronin network (rune), which focuses on gaming, said Tuesday (29) that it was a target to hack more than 625 million US dollars (2.97 billion Brazilian reals) in US dollar cryptocurrencies (USDC) and Ethereum (ETH). This episode is already considered the most dangerous in the history of cryptocurrency.
According to an official statement, the attack affected the verification nodes of the Ronin Network owned by Sky Mavis, network developers and the same developers of the game Axie Infinity (Access) and Axie DAO.
The memo said one of the attackers “used compromised private keys to fake plunder” from the Ronen Bridge in two operations.
The Ronin network, which runs in parallel with the Ethereum network, has nine validators that require five signatures for clouds designed to protect against these types of attacks. However, according to the statement, “the attacker found a vulnerability (backdoor) through the RPC node of our fee-free network, which they abused to obtain the signature of the Axie DAO validator.”
The losses were calculated at 173,600 ETH and $25.5 million, which at today’s prices equates to more than $625 million.

New Attacker Ronin’s Ethereum Address – He moved ETH from Binance a week ago. Etherscan monitoring logs show that the attack took place last Wednesday (23).
Most of the funds remain at the attacker’s address, but 6250 ETH has already been transferred to several other addresses.
Ronin Bridge and robotic market maker Katana have been suspended while investigations continue.
“We are working directly with various government agencies to ensure that criminals are brought to justice,” the official statement said.
It’s 1:20 p.m. Code Axie Infinity’s AXS trading is down 8.1%, and Ronin Network’s native cryptocurrency RON is down nearly 22%.
