Caixa announces the payment of resources transferred from health

After finding a deviation of R$215,000 from the Municipal Health Fund last week, Caixa Econômica Federal sent a letter to the Municipal Health Secretariat yesterday informing the Public Treasury of the resources to pay it.

In a memorandum distributed to the press, the municipality stated that the measures taken by the municipality ensure the payment of the value to the public treasury. The representatives of the municipal government have informed Caixa Econômica about irregular transfers found in bank accounts linked to the Health Department.

A discrepancy of R$214,996.69 was verified during the monthly bank reconciliation of the accounts, due to three transactions of unconfirmed origin, which could have been made on January 12, 13 and 16, 2023 for the individual accounts. The Department of Health challenged the transaction, stating that it took place without verification and authorization from the municipality.

Caixa Econômica Federal has already stated that it has taken internal action to investigate the irregular situation. In parallel, investigations are underway by the Civil and Federal Police to investigate the case.

As the police investigation begins, the Civil Police will begin holding hearings starting Tuesday on the money transfer. Two witnesses have already been called to testify to authorize the Everton Evangelista. The Civil Police will continue to analyze the need to subpoena other people to hear about the case.
