Capcom Is Aware of Dragons Dogma 2 Frame Rate Issues on PC, Looking Into Fixes

Capcom’s highly anticipated sequel, Dragon’s Dogma 2, which is set to release on March 12, is facing some performance issues on the PC platform. The game’s inconsistent frame rate performance on PC has been attributed to the heavy CPU demands from NPCs in the game, according to a response from Capcom to IGN.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 is aiming to run at around or higher than 30 FPS on consoles, with only one visual mode available across all platforms. However, IGN performance reviewer Michael Thompson experienced frame rate inconsistencies on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, as well as on PCs, especially in demanding areas like Vernworth, due to CPU and memory bandwidth demands.

The game’s high hardware demands are so significant that they can even impact the performance on the Steam Deck and high-end PCs, causing frame rate drops in denser populated towns. IGN senior editorial producer Mark Medina had to switch from playing on PS5 to PC due to motion sickness caused by the game’s framerate issues.

Despite these performance issues, IGN editorial producer Mitchell Saltzman found that Dragon’s Dogma 2’s thrilling combat and exploration moments were still enjoyable. IGN gameplay producer Ronny Barrier also noted the game’s inconsistent frame rate but found that it did not detract from the overall adventure experience.

In conclusion, while Dragon’s Dogma 2’s performance issues may be distracting for some players, they do not necessarily ruin the overall gameplay experience. Fans of the series may still find the game’s combat and exploration aspects to be engaging, despite the technical hiccups.
