China denounces US veto of immediate ceasefire call in Israel-Gaza conflict

In a recent development at the United Nations Security Council, tensions reached a boiling point as the US vetoed a resolution for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, much to the dismay of China and Algeria.

The resolution, backed by 13 out of 15 council members, aimed to put an end to the ongoing violence in Gaza, where Israel’s military operations have resulted in over 29,000 deaths in Palestinian territory. Displaced Palestinians have been forced to seek shelter in the city of Rafah, facing squalid conditions and limited access to necessities.

China condemned the US veto, calling it a “green light to continued slaughter” and was joined by Algeria, France, and the UK in criticizing the decision. The White House has since proposed a temporary ceasefire resolution, with conditions tied to the release of hostages and aid reaching Gaza.

Meanwhile, Israel’s Prime Minister has vowed to continue the war until achieving its goals, even hinting at a potential ground offensive in Rafah. This has raised concerns at the UN, with warnings of a potential “slaughter” in the planned Israeli offensive in the city. Israeli military, however, insists on targeting Hamas fighters in their operations.

As the situation in Gaza continues to escalate, the international community watches with bated breath, hoping for a peaceful resolution to the devastating conflict. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story on our site ‘Shiv Telegram Media’.
