Corinthians’ ranking against Boca Juniors ensures an isolated lead for SBT in the crowd

The duel between Corinthians and Boca Juniors, last Tuesday, resulted in large numbers of audiences for SBT, the broadcasting rights holder. Broadcaster Silvio Santos got 22% more audience than Rede Globo, the traditional leader in this range.

The broadcast began at 9:13 pm and ended at 11:56 pm earlier than scheduled due to a penalty shootout. During this period, SBT averaged 20.0 points, against 18.1 for Globo and only 4.3 points for the record, ensuring the channel’s highest Ibope of Libertadores outside of the final.

When considering only the rolling period, the first half and the penalty shootout, Corinthians’ game advantage increases even more. The median, in points, was 21.1 for the SBT, versus 17.3 for the Globo. It is worth noting that each audience point equals 1% of the universe or region in question.

It is also worth noting that the first leg match between the two teams broke the SBT audience record this year. At that time, however, the 16.6 points reached could not pass the Globo in general command.

Corinthians return to the stadium next Sunday, for the Brazilian championship, when they face Flamengo, at the New Coimica Arena. The match takes place at 4pm and is broadcast by Globo on Open TV and Premiere by Pay per viewin closed channels.
