In Shanghai, Dilma spends her first day working at the helm of Banco dos Brics

247 – On Tuesday (28), former President Dilma Rousseff had her first day on the job at the helm of the New Development Bank (NDB), better known as Banco dos Brics, based in Shanghai, China. Dilma was appointed by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (Workers’ Party), to head the National Bank of Dubai with the endorsement of economic ministers from China, Russia, India and South Africa who, together with Brazil, make up the bloc that brings together the largest emerging economies in the world.
“Her Excellency Dilma Rousseff, the newly elected President of NDB, begins her first day in office at NDB headquarters in Shanghai, China,” the National Development Bank said on social media.
Banco dos Brics was created in 2014 with the aim of serving as an alternative to the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), institutions controlled by the United States and Europeans, with the aim of financing and technical assistance for projects of BRICS members and other developing countries.
The National Development Bank currently has about $32 billion in approved projects. Of this total, nearly US$4 billion has been invested in Brazil, mainly in highway and port projects. In 2021, the following countries will join the BRICS bank: Bangladesh, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates and Uruguay.
