- next one: the feed in chronological order with only the accounts that users follow, and without recommendations from the social network;
- Favorite: An option in chronological order with a list prepared by users who have some profile, such as relatives and close friends.
It will be the option that uses Instagram algorithms by default and will be activated when the social network feed is opened. The change in Instagram addresses, at least in part, an old demand from users who prefer to view posts in reverse chronological order – Which was used in the early days of the application.
The platform has also released a “Favorites” feed, which shows a list of accounts that users like the most.
According to the social network, it will be possible to add up to 50 profiles to the favorites list. People will not be notified when they are added or removed from this group. These users’ posts will appear with a star and be more visible in the default feed, sorted by algorithm.
In announcing the change, Instagram said it wanted to give more control over everyone’s experience on the app, and that it decided to keep the algorithm feed as the default after surveys determined that users preferred this model.
