Last week, striker Luciano signed a contract renewal with the club Sao Paulo. The new bond is now valid through the end of 2024.
Negotiations continued for months, although both the club and the player acknowledged an extension of the agreement, which will expire at the end of 2022.
I am very happy that we were able to agree on the renewal of Luciano’s contract. An important player, author of key goals and very similar to our fans. I congratulate the effective work of the football department, which, in an agile way, efficiently conducted negotiations – said the chief Sao PauloJulio Casares.

The club sees Luciano as a player with leadership qualities. The striker is a fan favorite, even without being a starter.
At FC Morumbi, Luciano arrived in 2020 and quickly took on the role of the team’s offensive champion. The striker ended up being the top scorer in the Brazilian League and featured in São Paulo’s title campaign through to the final rounds.
Last year, Luciano began experiencing physical problems responsible for preventing a larger series of matches.
However, while on the field, the 11 jersey proved decisive, as in Paulistau’s title, with a goal in the final against Palmeiras, and in goals against Juventus, in the match that saved Sao Paulo from landing.
In 2022, Luciano struggled with injury problems again. This season, he played 13 matches and scored three goals.
