Luisa Stefani is WTA 1000 runner-up in Cincinnati

Bronze Medal Winner we Tokyo Olympics Along with Laura Pigossi, Luisa Stefani played today (21) in the doubles final of the Cicinatti WTA 1000 alongside Canadian Gabriela Dabrowski and lost to Chinese Shuai Zhang and Australian Samantha Stosur by two sets to 0, with parts of 7/5. and 6/3.

In the first set, Stephanie and Dabrowski began putting pressure on the opposing duo, and immediately earned a break point, opening 2-0 in the sequence when they confirmed serve. However, Stosur and Zhang dominated the match from match three, were able to break serve and, after wasting three break points in the sixth game, sought victory in 12 matches, making 7 for 5.

The second group was less balanced. Stosur and Zhang imposed a serve break in the first game, and despite taking the break in the sequence, they came back to the front in the fourth game, opening 4-1 in the sequence. To confirm their services, the Sino-Australian pair closed the group at 6/3 and the game in two groups to 0.

Louisa arrived in Cincinnati with the best ranking of her career among doubles, ranking 19th in the world. She will now climb the list, getting closer to the top 10. Last week, she had already reached the final of another WTA 1000 tournament, taking the title in Montreal, along with Dabrowski.

The road to the final

The number 6 seed, Luisa Stefani and Gabriela Dabrovsky, faced Kazakhstan’s Anna Danielina and Yaroslava Shvedova in the first round and won in two sets to 0 (6/3 and 6/4). In the round of 16, they defeated Belarusian Victoria Azarenka and American Jessica Pegula, by two sets to 1, with parts 6/4, 4/6 and 10/7.

In the quarter-finals, they faced Japan’s Ina Shibahara and Shoko Oyama with double heads No. 3, and won two sets to zero (double 6/3). In the semi-finals, they beat the other candidates – Czech Barbora Krejsikova and Katerina Sinyakova, second place, winning in two sets to 1 (7/5, 3/6 and 10/7).
