After carrying out his agenda in Portugal, President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva arrived on Tuesday (25) in Spain, where he is scheduled to meet with businessmen and Spanish central unions.

This is Lula’s first trip to Europe in this third period. In recent months, the president has already visited Argentina, Uruguay, the United States, China and the United Arab Emirates.

On Wednesday, Lula should also meet with the head of government, Pedro Sanchez, at the Moncloa Palace, in Madrid, and with King Felipe VI for lunch, before returning to Brazil.

Itamaraty said that the president’s visit to Portugal and Spain “comes within the framework of re-launching relations with Europe and the world.”

Lula arrived in Portugal on Friday (21). On Saturday (22nd), he met with the country’s president, Marcelo Rebelo, and later with Prime Minister Antonio Costa.

In a speech delivered alongside Rebelo, Lula confirmed that he intends to strengthen the relationship between the business sectors of Brazil and Portugal.

“We can be bolder. Let businessmen and ministers talk more. Discuss more for future perspectives in financing our industries and products,” the president stated at the time.

This Monday Lula presented the Camões Award to singer and composer Chico Buarque, four years later. The president stated that the rendition corrects “one of the greatest absurdities” against Brazilian culture.
