The maritime provinces will be represented by teams of AAA-from Edmundston, Dieppe, and Moncton (New Brunswick), Newbridge (Nova Scotia) and Charlottetown (Île-du-Prince-Édouard).

Two american teams will also make the drive up to Granby : the Black Knights of Palmyra, Pennsylvania, and the Jr Thunderbirds Springfield, Massachusetts, in the class AA.

Moreover, the Swiss Ladies Swiss Team will be in action in the AA female. The town of Brive in France will be represented in the class, just like Mexico, because the players of the Ice Dome will be back this year.

International outreach

A native of Amqui in the Bas-Saint-Laurent, Bouliane is known to Granby to have worn the number 4 with the Buffalo, at the level of major junior, from 1982 to 1985. In his last season in Granby, he has accumulated 134 points in 70 games and has shared the ice with Stéphane Richer and Patrick Roy.

For thirty years, he has worked for different organizations of hockey in France, as well as representing certain events in québec, as the Tournament international de hockey pee-wee de Québec.

“Thanks to Martin, we have hosted players from different countries : France, Italy, Switzerland, Austria and Belgium,” says Pierre Croteau, who was the animation during the press conference on Tuesday evening.

To the 50th

If the organizers of the THIBG have not announced big news this year is that the event is already in preparation mode for the celebrations marking its 50th anniversary. “The new features, you can keep it for next year […] We started to throw ideas, but one of the most important things in this moment, is that all of the volunteers who are present this year will be back next year,” says Norman Side.

In the meantime the celebrations of the 50th, the current form of the tournament will take place from 13 to 24 February next.
