Behind the scenes at Palmeiras, there is optimism that Dudu will sign a contract renewal before the end of January. The disagreements that arose during the negotiations are receding into the background today.
The big hurdle of the new agreement is related to auto-renewal incentives (game attendance). Dudu and his agents understand that the bond is automatically extended if he has 15% as a starter in the season, while Palmeiras thinks the best thing is for Dudu to be present for half of the games in the year, i.e. 50%.
In addition to the statements of the president, Leila Pereira, which gave a kind of “ultimatum” in the negotiations, Dudu and his staff were disturbed by the fact that the club changed clauses at the last minute more than once. Verdão understands that these are normal situations in negotiations and that he has also seen that the player’s representatives want to change details during the talks.
Dodo has a contract until the end of 2023 and this new contract should be valid for two years, with the possibility of extension for another contract.
Amidst this lack of definition, Flamengo is monitoring the outcome of the negotiations and has already made it clear unofficially that it is interested in the striker, if he does not renew with Palmeiras.
