PIS / Pasep Allowance, Calendar Version and New Benefits Amount

The PIS/Pasep salary bonus has been widely speculated by workers, companies and even the press, who are seeking information on this year’s deferred benefit payment to 2022 which, as a result of this deferment, could still generate backlog payments.

Postponement of salary bonus

Before we talk about the 2022 salary bonus, we need to go back to the base year PIS/Pasep 2020. After all, the feature due to release in July of this year ended up being delayed.

The postponement was due to the government’s difficulty finding a source of income to help fund the Emergency Employment and Income Preservation Program, known as BIM.

Thus, to obtain resources from the BEm programme, which ran from April to August, the government chose to postpone the PIS/Pasep 2020 base year payment schedule, directing R$7.8 billion to pay the allowance in favor of job and income preservation this year.

PIS / Pasep 2022 Subscription

For the 2022 allowance, there will be some changes to the benefit, the most important of which is the repayment schedule. This is because the vesting was usually issued in July of one year and its calendar lasted until June of the following year.

However, with maturity postponed to 2022, the Amparo Fund (Codefat) Advisory Board, which is responsible for managing program funds, decided to change this issue, making the payment schedule always occur in the same year for all workers.

Thus, from 2022 onwards, all PIS/Pasep beneficiaries will receive their own installments in the same year, with the payment schedule starting in January and ending in December.

Therefore, the expectation is that the calendar that will also be provided in January will depend on the month of birth of the worker, that is, those born in January should receive the allowance in January, those born in February will receive it in February and so on.

Changes implemented by Codefat in Resolution No. 896 which can be fully verified by clicking here.

New salary bonus amount

The salary bonus is paid in the amount of the current minimum wage, that is, workers who worked on an official contract this year will not receive PIS / Pasep in the amount of this year’s minimum wage, but in the amount of the next minimum wage, 2022.

Speaking of minimum wages, the National Consumer Price Index (INPC), the indicator responsible for measuring inflation in a country and also used to calculate the minimum wage, points to a new high of 10.96%.

Thus, if inflation remains at this high level of 10.96%, the minimum wage could jump next year from R$1,100 paid in 2021 to R$1,220.56 in 2022.

Thus, workers will be able to access up to R$1,220.56 in 2022 if they work under formal contract within the 12 months of the required base year.

It should be noted that the benefit is paid according to the number of months of work in a year, that is, everyone who worked for 12 months in a year will receive the full minimum wage, while those who have worked less time will receive a proportionate percentage.

To determine how much to earn, simply divide the 2022 minimum wage by 12 (12 months) and multiply by the number of months worked throughout the year.

accrued benefits

Another point that attracted great interest from workers is the disclosure of the possibility of doubling the salary premium. Calm down, it’s not like that.

In fact, it turned out that the salary bonus for the base year PIS / Pasep 2020, i.e. for employees who worked with an official contract in 2020, which was supposed to be issued this year, was postponed to 2022, the same year that the government must also pay a bonus Salary for the year 2021.

Thus, workers who worked with an official contract in 2020 and 2021 will be able to receive benefits accrued in the next year.
