Russia accuses the United States and Europe of obstructing the peace talks

“wAshington and the European capitals, but above all Washington, are anxious not to allow, under any pretext, peace negotiations. “They are not allowing Kiev to even think about it,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

The Kremlin responded to the statements of the US administration, which rejected the peace plan proposed by China on the grounds that, among other things, it would “certify illegal Russian conquests” in Ukraine.

Peskov considered that the United States and the Western powers “dropped their mask,” although the Kremlin understands this situation “as a reality in which one must live,” according to the Spanish agency Europe Press.

“With regard to the collective reaction of Western countries, the fact that their reaction on all issues was of a hostile nature is not new to anyone,” Peskov was quoted as saying by Agence France-Presse.

China proposed a peace plan to resolve the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, which it released on February 24, the first anniversary of Russia’s invasion of the neighboring country.

In the plan, China calls for a cease-fire, peace negotiations, and an end to sanctions against Russia, but also advocates respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries.

It also alludes to the “legitimate security concerns of all parties”, referring to Russia.

Ukraine and its Western allies rejected the plan, seeing that it would mean leaving Russian forces in sovereign Ukrainian territory.

Russia annexed five Ukrainian regions, starting with Crimea in 2014, followed by Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, and Zaporizhia in September last year.

Russian leaders Vladimir Putin and Chinese leaders Xi Jinping discussed the Chinese plan in Moscow on Monday and Tuesday.

Putin acknowledged that the plan contains clauses “consistent with Russia’s tendencies” that could be the basis for a final agreement with Ukraine.

The Kremlin also said today that Putin and Xi did not discuss Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s peace plan, which provides for the withdrawal of Russian forces from all Ukrainian territory, including Crimea as a precondition.

The Spanish “EFE” agency quoted Peskov as saying, “No, the Ukrainian peace plan was not discussed. There was an exchange of views on the items of the Chinese peace plan.”

According to Peskov, the “Zelinsky plan” is a topic that will be discussed by China and Ukraine.

Today, the Chinese Foreign Ministry did not provide details about a possible phone conversation between Xi and Zelensky.

“China has no selfish motives in the Ukrainian ’cause’ and has not added fuel to the fire,” said Chinese diplomatic spokesperson Wang Wenbin, according to EFE.

Wang was responding to remarks by US National Security Council spokesman John Kirby, who accused Beijing of “lack of neutrality” because Xi “did not visit Ukraine or speak with Zelensky.”

China “did not create a” crisis “in Ukraine, nor is it part of it [do conflito] Or offer weapons to either side.”

In recent days, there has been speculation about the possibility of a phone call between Xi and Zelensky, following the Chinese leader’s visit to Moscow.

Chinese Foreign Minister Chen Gang told his Ukrainian counterpart Dmitry Kuleba last week that Beijing wants to play a “constructive role” in promoting peace talks.
