Former NFL cornerback Vontae Davis found dead at 35 in South Florida

Former NFL cornerback Vontae Davis, known for his abrupt retirement at halftime of a game in 2018, was found dead at the age of 35 in South Florida. The Davie police confirmed his death, stating that foul play is not suspected.

Davis made headlines in 2018 when he retired during a game while playing for the Buffalo Bills. The Buffalo Bills and the Miami Dolphins, where Davis previously played, expressed their condolences and sorrow over his passing.

Davis was a first-round pick by the Miami Dolphins in 2009 and was traded to the Indianapolis Colts in 2012. He was selected to two Pro Bowls during his six seasons with the Colts. Throughout his 10 NFL seasons, Davis had 22 interceptions, 97 passes defended, and 395 tackles.

Several former teammates and colleagues, including Colts owner Jim Irsay, paid tribute to Davis on social media. His older brother, Vernon Davis, also played in the NFL as a tight end and was a two-time Pro Bowl selection.
