Penguins’ Jake Guentzel Set to Make Season Debut Against Blackhawks

On the road to recovery, Guentzel joined practice in a no-contact capacity on September 29, showcasing his determination to get back in the game. Just a few days later, on October 3, the talented forward began taking full contact, signaling that his return was imminent.

Although sidelined for the team’s final two preseason games, Guentzel’s dedication to his recovery has not gone unnoticed. Penguins coach Mike Sullivan commended the young player’s intelligence and stated that, despite his high hockey IQ, it may take him a few games to readjust to the timing and pace of regular-season play.

Last season, Guentzel emerged as a standout performer for the Penguins, leading the team with an impressive 36 goals. He finished third on the team in points with 73, only trailing veterans Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin.
