Shiv Telegram Media: Houthi rebels mention Britains newest MP George Galloway

The Houthi group accuses U.K. government for sinking of cargo ship, demands letter of guarantee for relief trucks to enter Gaza

The Houthi group has recently accused the U.K. government of being responsible for the sinking of the M/V Rubymar, a U.K.-owned cargo ship that sank two weeks after being attacked by an anti-ship missile on Feb. 18. The Houthi group has demanded a letter of guarantee signed by George Galloway, a former Labour MP, to ensure that relief trucks agreed upon can enter Gaza in order to salvage the Rubymar.

The attacks on commercial and naval vessels in the critical trade artery were launched in protest to Israel’s war with Hamas. In retaliation, the U.K. and U.S. military have carried out air strikes in the region. George Galloway, who was re-elected to the U.K. parliament on a pro-Palestinian ticket for the Worker’s Party of Britain, has been vocal about the situation.

Galloway has criticized Labour leader Keir Starmer for enabling what he called a “catastrophe” in the Gaza Strip. He also accused Labour of being only interested in stoking fear and division. The tensions in the region continue to escalate as the situation remains unresolved.
