Shiv Telegram Media: US destroyer intercepts missile fired by Houthi rebels in Red Sea

In the latest series of attacks in the Middle East, a suspected assault by Yemen’s Houthi rebels has damaged a ship in the Gulf of Aden. This incident comes in response to Israel’s ongoing war with Hamas in Gaza, escalating tensions in the region.

The attack on the ship coincided with a U.S. destroyer intercepting drones and a missile launched by the Houthi rebels, while the Indian navy battled a fire on a container ship targeted by the group. Additionally, Iran made headlines by confiscating a $50 million cargo of Kuwaiti crude oil belonging to Chevron Corp. on a tanker seized almost a year ago.

Houthi rebels also targeted a Barbados-flagged bulk carrier, adding to the list of ships attacked in the Red Sea and surrounding waters since November. In a separate incident, the USS Carney destroyer was attacked by bomb-carrying drones and an anti-ship ballistic missile during the American campaign against the rebels.

The Indian navy shared a video showcasing firefighters responding to a ship targeted by the Houthi rebels, revealing damage caused by a missile impact. Iran further stirred controversy by seizing crude oil on a vessel for allegedly violating U.S. sanctions related to the importation of a Swedish medicine.

These recent incidents are part of a larger trend of ship seizures and explosions in the region since 2019, following the U.S. withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal and subsequent attacks attributed to Iran by the U.S. Navy. The ongoing shadow war in the Middle East continues to escalate, with various countries and groups involved in the conflict.
